The Good Samaritan

Norbert Link | July 19, 2008

Why did Christ’s “Parable of the Good or Merciful Samaritan,” as recorded in Luke, chapter 10, have such a tremendous impact on the society of His time? What was so revolutionary and provocative about this parable, which teaches us how to love our neighbor? Why is it still so relevant and meaningful for us today? Who were the Samaritans? Do they still exist? Why did many of the Jews hate them so much? And how did Jesus show that He refused to be a part of that kind of antagonism and prejudice?

Real Power

Brian Gale (United Kingdom) | July 5, 2008

We recently celebrated the very special day of Pentecost when we should have reflected on the fact that we have been given the power of the Holy Spirit which enables us to know and understand truths that are hidden from the world at large.  God has not given His people at this time important positions in the world where they can exercise power and authority, and make far reaching decisions.   But in the Kingdom of God we will have real power – power and authority used for the right reason and used in the right way for the good of all humanity and that’s the power we should be looking forward to.

Giving

Kalon Mitchell | June 28, 2008

Giving is an essential part to who we are Christians. If we do not ever give, then we are not developing the character of God. And if we are not developing the character of God, we will not be called “blessed”.

Self-Control

Eric Rank | June 8, 2008

Self control is a virtue that is critical in our goal of overcoming this world. Without it, many of the more weighty attributes of our character simply cannot be mastered. In order to achieve self-control, the best method is to analyze the stumbling blocks we may have, and work to remove them. By doing so, we judge ourselves first, so that we may not be judged when the time of the end comes, and inherit the promise of eternal life.

Don't Take God For Granted

Michael Link | June 8, 2008

Things that we have been taking for granted in this life have been depleting and soaring in price, whether it’s food prices, gasoline, and cost of living.   During these difficult times, we need to stay strong and look to God for intervention, thank Him for what we do have and the blessings He does give us.  We should never take Him for granted on what He promises us when we do these things.

Let There Be Light

Norbert Link | April 26, 2008

Throughout the Bible, we find a clear separation between light and darkness. As children of light, we must not have any fellowship or communion with the works of darkness. But many today do not know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness. The world rejected the true Light, Jesus Christ, at the time of His first Coming. Not much has changed. Very few today are willing to come to the God of Light, Life and Truth–while most continue to follow Satan, the prince of darkness, who transforms himself into an “angel of light.” And so do his ministers. But God pronounces a curse on those who put darkness for light. He wants His people to be lights to the world. Are you such a light? Are you letting your light shine brightly in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation?
