When we commit idolatry, we forsake the true God. The book of Judges gives us many examples and warns us not to follow the bad lead of the ancient Israelites. But sadly, our Christian nations engage today in the same kind of Baal and Astarte worship, and calamity will be the consequence.

The Christmas Trees Origin
Perhaps the most cherished Christmas custom of all is the Christmas tree. But did you know that the Christmas tree was a pagan object of worship long before the birth of Christ? Pagans believed that their gods were living in and actually changed into pinetrees. Does the Bible speak about Christmas trees? And if so, does it approve or condemn the custom of decorating pine trees at Christmas time?

Today’s news on Iran is somewhat confusing and puzzling. The Guardian tells us that a power struggle is going on between President Ahmadinejad and the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the New York Times and the IAEA, Iran is able to build a bomb right now. Israel has threatened that they would attack Iran in that case. The Washington Post says that Iran is actively supporting the government of Syria against the demonstrators. Deutsche Welle reports that Iran provokes Germany by not initially allowing the German Chancellor and her party to access its airspace to travel to India. On the other hand, Der Spiegel states that Germany is still the third-largest exporter to Iran. What does this all mean? Does the Bible tell us what is in store for Iran?

The Future of Libya
Why are we fighting against Libya? What do we hope to achieve? Who should lead? The USA does not want to, but it does not like France to lead, either. The Arab world and Turkey are opposed to air strikes; Germany won’t participate at all; NATO is taking a confusing position; and France’s role is becoming more and more problematic. After giving a brief update on Feast preparations for 2007, this sermon will discuss the dangers related to requesting or seeking signs; focusing on dreams; or analyzing “circumstances,” when confronted with having to make difficult decisions. We must be aware that there could be wrong signs and false dreamers of dreams–even in God’s Church. And, as Biblical examples prove, “circumstances” could be easily misinterpreted or misjudged, if we are not very close to God, so as to be able to really know His Word and His Will for us.
