Through God’s guidance, Joseph interpreted the dreams of two high-ranking officials of Pharaoh, who were also in prison, and later Pharaoh’s own dreams. Convinced by Joseph’s wisdom, Pharaoh appointed him to rule over all of Egypt. When a famine struck the land, Joseph’s brothers went to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph was the one in charge of the grain supply. How would he treat his brothers when he saw them?

But Laban caught up with him, and the two made a covenant. Afterward, Jacob met his brother Esau. How would Esau react after they hadn’t seen each other for so long? Would God fulfill his promise to Jacob and bring him home and bless him?

After Jacob obtained the birthright blessing through deception and was forced to flee from his brother Esau, his journey led him to Haran, to his uncle Laban. There, he worked for his future wife, Rachel, for seven years. However, Jacob also repeatedly experienced what it was like to be deceived, as his uncle Laban had also repeatedly betrayed him. Nevertheless, God was by Jacob’s side and blessed him, as he had promised.

How did the story continue after Esau sold his birthright? Several years passed, and this time, Jacob outwitted his brother, deceived his father, and thus obtained the birthright blessing by deception. What consequences did this have for Jacob, and how did Esau react to the trick?

Abraham dies and is buried next to Sarah. Isaac and Rebekah have twins named Esau and Jacob and their rivalry begins in the womb. Esau later sells his birthright for a pot of lentils. Due to a famine, Isaac moves to Gerar and repeats his father’s mistake by claiming Rebekah as his sister. After admitting his sin, God blesses him, and tensions arise with the Philistines. In the end, Isaac makes peace with Abimelech.
