Why does God command us today to stay "in booths" for the entire time of the Feast of Tabernacles? What is the symbolic significance of staying in booths? And what is the meaning of "booths" for us today?
The Day of Atonement pictures the removal of Satan and reconciliation or "at-one-ment" between God and mankind. Why and how was Satan successful in alienating man from God? What are his tactics and strategies? How can we conquer Satan already now?
The Feast offers many opportunities to practice patience, because no matter how much care we take in planning, problems will arise to test our Christian Character in the area of Patience.
This third installment discussed the 3rd chapter of Paul's letter to the Galatians. What is the law that was "added" 430 years after God's promises to Abraham? Why was it added "because of transgressions"? Why does Paul say that we are not justified by works, while James says that we are? What is Judaism or the "Jews' religion"? And what is the practical difference between our faith in Christ and the faith of Christ living in us?
The Feast of Trumpets symbolizes an alarm for the world as a whole. As the church carrying out the mission to proclaim this warning message, we must be acutely aware of what is being preached and be moved to act accordingly.
While the Word of God speaks about the future and very clearly reveals the hope we hold, how does that knowledge factor into our daily living? Is it only the ultimate future that holds promise for us, or can we legitimately plan for and have "dreams" for this present time?
The "Day of the Lord" is closely related to the Feast of Trumpets. It is our commission today to warn the world of that soon-coming time of God's Wrath. Most won't listen now--but they may remember later. God promises those who do hear and act accordingly physical protection during that terrible time. Let us examine what God says about the seven trumpets which will be blown during the Day of the Lord.
Fellowship involves the sharing of interests, ideals and experiences, and these concepts are clearly mentioned and explained in the Bible. Fellowship involves each one of us, and how we participate is important--even to the point of determining our future in God's Kingdom!
Weakness, measured by the standards of this world, makes the strength of God perfect in the life of a Christian. Brains, brawn and all kinds of strengths that we may have, are all from God. God's chosen people are described as the weak, foolish and base people of the world. Yet to God, these weaknesses are counted as strengths when one turns to Him for strength.
In our daily walk in the ways of God, as we do our best with His help, there are blessings that we can look forward to. As we strive towards the everlasting recompense of our works, we will also find that God is not opposed to blessing us many times over in this life time.
In this installment, we are presenting an in-depth discussion of the second chapter of Paul's letter to the Galatians. Rather than trying to say that the law of the Ten Commandments was abolished, Paul addresses how we can obtain justification.
Applying 7 examples of Old Testament Laws and Teachings Today: 1)Developing a working Farm, 2)Planting orchard seedling trees--tithes and offerings applicable, 3)Cirumcision on the Sabbath, 4)Discovering stolen handgun, 5)Confessing to stolen hand gun, 6)Loaning money to member in need, 7)Loaning money to a member for his business.
The letter to the Galatians is one of the most misunderstood letters in the entire New Testament. Orthodox Christianity teaches that Paul wrote his letter to show that the law of the Ten Commandments is no longer in effect. This concept is absolutely false. In this first installment, we are analyzing Paul's statements in the first chapter of his letter.
Paul is well qualified to address the subject of being content. In the 4th chapter of the book of Philippians, we examine the path towards this frame of mind.
The Bible addresses the subject of the Temple of God--it reveals the origin and role of this unique structure as well as yet unfulfilled prophecies that speak of a future Temple in Jerusalem. The Bible also has some very intriguing things to say about how Christians, themselves, manifest God's presence.
Becoming convinced that God's way is the right way is the beginning step in a Christian's conversion. In order to attain the goal, conviction must be maintained. There are several ways one can become unconvinced, and several ways one can stay convinced of God's truth. Understanding what kind of behavior to be on guard against and what to put into active practice is utterly important. This split sermon covers a handful of ideas to help in this endeavor.
Do we show partiality in our spiritual development and growth? Do we favor only parts of God's way of life over others? God has proven His impartiality towards us by sacrificing His Son so that we might live eternally. We must not ignore this great gift through playing favorites with God's Law, but must embrace the Law in its entirety.
